The open beauty cabinet
Luxurious med spa, with the cabinet open
I want a beautiful claim to survive close attention. Copper-peptide skincare offers plenty to examine, right down to what crosses the skin.
Copper peptides in the beauty cabinet
Luxury suggests a flawless surface. My curiosity starts underneath it. A review of topical GHK describes poor passage through the skin’s outer barrier as a central delivery problem while also reporting a procollagen signal with GHK-Cu. The ingredient has an appealing story; the barrier makes the story more interesting.
GHK-Cu earned serious attention through experiments such as increased collagen synthesis in human fibroblast cultures. That is a precise achievement, with cells and an observable response. I admire its modest scale. A beautiful explanation can begin there without rushing to a claim about an entire face.
The cabinet here opens onto creams, skin samples and cell experiments. Each gives a different view of the material. A good result stripped of its setting strikes me as excessive gloss.
Facial cream findings
The topical review’s procollagen comparison reports the proportion of subjects whose synthesis increased. That distinction is easily lost in a striking percentage. I was tempted to read it as the size of a skin improvement, too; the actual outcome is narrower and more useful.
Open the facial cream findings for the response figures and the separate question of skin appearance.
Collagen and skin penetration
A cell has to make something; a topical preparation has to reach something. The skin-layer penetration experiment measured copper moving through laboratory skin samples and copper retained in the skin. I like that physical question. It puts the material back into a discussion that can become airy very quickly.
The collagen experiment examines the synthesis result. Skin penetration follows the delivery problem and the formulation strategies reviewed in the literature.
The larger anti-aging claim
The GHK gene-data review describes a broad gene-expression signature. Its scale deserves attention; I hesitate to award it the word rejuvenation on size alone. A database pattern and a measured skin change invite different judgments.
Examine the gene-expression claim, or settle into the reading list.
